OUGD401 - Context of Practice - Practical Final

The concept is that people feel a part of something big as well as a  community by having an iPhone. Also the fact that it implies that each individual relies on likes on Instagram or social networks to feel somewhat superior. It embeds an identity on the individual. For example, the feud between iPhone and Samsung users. Each person is instantly placed into a category.

I’ve chosen the slogan “is this better for you” to make people question the things that they do. It becomes more personal to the reader.
This can link with insecurities. Simply because it’ll question peoples motivate. It will allow them to think whether they’re doing it because it makes them happy and a better person, or because everyone else is doing the same.

I decided to make the poster black and while but placing the gold tint from the newer iPhones as I felt it linked back to the wealth of the product. I also think it creates a more minimal visual which is what makes Apple stand out as an aesthetic brand/product.

OUGD401 - Context of Practice - Practical Research

From the research I have gathered from my essay it gave me insight into how I wanted to approach my poster. I spoke about how advertisements uses mens desires as an effect to attract them to the product, For example the Tom Ford aftershave ad shows the fragrance which men want as it is a prestige label and then for it to be between  breast. I wanted to approach my poster in various meanings, such as to visualise insecurities, products etc.

This saying can be applied to mostly anything so because in my essay i spoke about the Apple company i had the idea of applying this to my overall poster idea. Re wording it to 'iPhone therefore I am' Relating to buying into the product which everyone has done due to the affect of the companys marketing, Making us feel like we are not apart of something unless we hold this product.

The anti ad buster poster of the African child it shows that consumerism is taking over poverty. How as a wealthy country we buy into the apple product when we would help feed the less fortunate in life.  This research has allowed me to have an idea on an anti ad poster of Apple.

The iPhone advert also gave me an idea with the whole minimal side. The way they use only the product/applications and a hand throughout the advertisement. The advert interests me in the sense of, is it physiologically playing with our insecurities and needs, in view of the hand. As i believe the hand playing a role of 'look at this product in their hand' 'or possibly your hand' Which to me at the angle of the phone/hand within the advert it looks as if you're looking down at the phone as if you already own it.
